MY WORLD, MY WORK

This is Hala Kassem and I am a twenty three year old filmmaker and photographer and an aspiring director. My background as a female Egyptian/Chinese has allowed me to constantly travel and thus to connect with people from different backgrounds who inspire me to see the world differently. I have lived in Egypt, China, Saudi Arabia and now studying at Middlebury College in the U.S. I am very fortunate to have this kind of lifestyle which provided me with the opportunity to connect with the world around me.
I have long been a film enthusiast since I was a little kid and so once I was old enough to navigate a camera, I took up photography to channel my interest and curiosity in this artistic platform. However, I dove into my passion professionally when started college in 2015 and majored in film and media and it wasn’t long before I realized that it was exactly what I wanted to do with my life.
